Outline Drawings

Placement on the page is something we will work on intuitively at first and then in the second half of the Semester, we will learn how to more accurately center the pose on the page. For now do your best using the L-Frames to envisage the center of the pose along with the center of your drawing page.

simple cleaned up outline drawing
the drawing is a little large within the frame of reference

sensitive use of line
See Marking Code LS
the drawing above is a little small within the frame of reference. As we become more accustomed to drawing on the same size paper we will begin to automatically use the full picture plane leaving just enough space around our drawings to let the work still breath and feel there is room around the edges.

click on this drawing and make it larger
you can see where some of the underdrawing shows through
(draw lightly so you can erase the underdrawing)
See Marking Code L2D (Light to Dark)
start your drawing using light lines
the drawing is a little too far to the right (the foot probably was made smaller as a result)

the drawing is a little high on the page
Gabe started to explore some nuances along the edges - you can see use of line variation describing this
(see the flyaway individual hairs that were observed and drawn)
See Marking Code LV

AND MORE OUTLINE DRAWINGS

Good use of gestural underdrawing and positive/negative space exploration - Bethany
the drawing underneath still needs to be erased - it is light enough so this won't be a problem

Nice line variety
( See tactile differentiations between hair, skin, metal, fabric, wood, etc.) - Corey

Overall sensitive use of line with relatively good proportions, size and placement on the page - Victoria

Good Start. Great sighting of positive and negative spaces to get correct proportions. - Julianne

Good size and placement on the page using positive/negative space - Ellie
